Settlement: everything after you land
Approval is only the beginning. From opening accounts and finding schools to signing your first lease, we take the practicalities off your desk.
After You Land, These Are the Things That Take Real Time
Getting the permit is only the beginning. Opening a bank account, renting a home, enrolling children, seeing a doctor, setting up internet, getting a driving licence—none of these is hard on its own, but together they are enough to leave a family new to the country overwhelmed. We have a team on the ground and can take over as much as you need.

Children's Education: Aligned with the British and French Systems
Mauritius follows the British educational tradition, with English as the language of instruction, while also retaining French and local curricula. International schools are concentrated in the centre and north of the island, and places usually have to be applied for well in advance.
- Curricula: most international schools teach British programmes (IGCSE/A-Level), while some offer the International Baccalaureate (IB) or a French curriculum.
- When to apply: places at popular schools and year groups are limited, so we suggest starting three to six months ahead; term alignment and entrance assessments need to be arranged early.
- Documents required: passport and residence documents, previous transcripts and proof of enrolment, vaccination records; some schools also ask for a reference letter or an entrance test.
- Fee structure: tuition varies widely by school and year group, with registration, school bus and activity fees on top. Once you have chosen a school we provide an itemised list.
- Accompanied visits: we can accompany you to school visits and interviews end to end, and help you get clear answers on curriculum differences and progression routes.
Where to Live, Healthcare and Daily Life
Mauritius has solid infrastructure, and private healthcare covers most everyday needs. Where you live tends to determine your quality of life, so we run the comparisons around your commute, your children's schools and your budget.
Choosing an Area
The north (around Grand Baie) is convenient, with a concentrated Chinese community and plenty of restaurants; the west (Flic en Flac, Tamarin) balances sea views with a relaxed pace; the centre (Ebène, Moka) is close to the financial district and good schools; the east and south are quieter and more private. Choosing an area really means choosing a combination of commute, schools and how wide a daily radius you want.
Renting and Buying
Long-term rentals are usually signed by the year and involve a deposit and agency fees; buying involves a title search, taxes and registration. We can handle the paperwork and process for either, or accompany you through it.
Healthcare and Insurance
Private hospitals and specialist clinics are concentrated in the main urban areas, and emergency and common specialist services cover day-to-day needs. Long-term residents are usually advised to hold local or international health insurance; serious conditions are often referred to South Africa or Europe.
Everyday Practicalities
Mobile and internet accounts, transferring water, electricity and gas, applying for a driving licence, buying and insuring a vehicle, domestic help and drivers—we work through these small items with you one by one against a checklist, with no extra "information fee".

🏠 Society and Environment: Safe, Diverse and Chinese-Community Friendly
Safety and Political Stability
One of the most politically stable countries in Africa, with smooth transitions between democratically elected governments and a crime rate below that of major European and American tourist cities. It is a favoured holiday and second-home destination for high-net-worth individuals worldwide.
Chinese Community
More than 30,000 residents of Chinese descent, most tracing their roots to Meixian in Guangdong; Chinese New Year is a public holiday, Port Louis has a long-established Chinatown, and Chinese supermarkets, restaurants and Chinese-language services are all readily available.
British-Style Education
Public schools are free, and international schools such as North London International School and Clavis charge only one third to one half of comparable fees in China; a secondary qualification opens the way into universities across the Commonwealth.
Healthcare System
Public healthcare is free for citizens and residents; private hospitals such as Clinique Darné and Wellkin are well equipped, and for serious conditions patients can be referred to medical facilities in South Africa, India or Dubai.
Quality of Life
22–28°C all year round, with sunshine and beaches on every side; villas between the hills and the sea cost only 60%–70% of comparable properties on first-tier Southeast Asian islands, and the cost of living is moderate.
